
Communication and Cuban Culture.
2009 – 2010 academic year
The topics related with
the Cuban Culture have always called the interest of many international
students we have had in our campus studying Spanish language. That is why the
Department of Socio Cultural studies which belongs to the Faculty of Social
Sciences and Humanities, has decided to offer a course on this subject. This
course also includes the improvement of the Spanish language skills.
During the 2009 – 2010
academic year the courses of Communication and Cuban Culture
will be offered in the following dates:
October

November: (Nov 2 – Nov

January: (Ene 4– Ene 28)
February: (Feb 1 – Feb 25)
March: (Mar 1 – Mar 25)
The courses will have 16
hours / lessons per week. Each hour / lesson lasts 45 minutes. That makes a
total of 64 hours / lessons per month. From the total of 64 hours / lessons,
some will be with the presence of the professor and others do not. This
includes tasks, visit to museums and places of interest etc.

Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Once the above
information is sent, a confirmation of studies letter will be sent to the
students. This letter should be printed and presented by the students when they
arrive to our university.
All the interested
persons should arrive in our country having a student visa.
This visa will be processed
once the student is accepted by the academic area and sent to the Cuban embassy
located in the country of the student.
It will be valid during 30 days after the arrival of the student in our
country. If the studies require more than 30 days, this visa should be
extended.
In an exceptional way,
the interested ones could arrive in the country with a tourist visa. Once
accepted by the academic area a member of our staff will only change it into
student visa. In these cases the immigration authorities in the country reserve
the right of their approval.
All the processes in
relation with visas are done at the local immigration office. They all require
a certain fee in stamps bought at a certain bank in CUC (Cuban Convertible
Peso). To change from Tourist Visa to Student Visa: 40.00 CUC. To extend a
Student Visa: 25.00 CUC.
The students should send
their application at least with two months in advance before the course starts.
It is required to have
at least level II in Spanish Language to apply for this course.
The Faculty of Social
Sciences and Humanities has the right of admission.
Cost: 340.00 CUC (Cuban
Convertible Pesos) to be paid in cash.
